Event to Bring Influencers and Brands Together

TORONTO, Sept. 15, 2015 – Forget what you think you know about bloggers, content creators and influencers — today they are building content empires that rival some of the best fashion, beauty and lifestyle publishers.

EMPOWER presented by Dx3, held on Saturday September 19, 2015 at St. Andrew’s Club & Conference Centre in Toronto, will bring together 150 of Canada’s most influential digital personalities and brands, for a first-of-its-kind event to discuss the industry of influence and the burgeoning power of independent content creators.

The daytime event features influencers from across Canada, who combined, have a social media reach of more than 6 million followers, fans and subscribers. The event will feature Curated Conversations to propel the industry’s professionalism and its relation to agencies and brands says Anum Rubec, Creative Director for EMPOWER.

“As influencers, our role is to provide great content to our subscribers and fans,” says Rubec. “EMPOWER’s aim is to allow brands and influencers to have open discussions about developing valuable collaborative partnerships and while driving measurable results.”

Brands and marketers have concerns about the effectiveness of partnerships in this unregulated industry. EMPOWER will bring leading content creators together with brands to openly discuss tactics and practices that drive value says Reilly Stephens, Head of Partnerships for EMPOWER.

“EMPOWER is the first time so many influencers have been brought together in Canada and gives brands a unique opportunity to interact with them,” says Stephens.

Speakers Include:

Opening Keynote 2:00 PM: Wendy Nguyen, Fashion Blogger of Wendy’s Lookbook, who has 1.9 million followers on social media discusses fashion, trend-setting and social conscience as she boldly explores the world of style. Wendy will discuss how she turned her blog into a business.

Research Presentation 3:20 PM: Kevin Keane, Co-Founder of Brainsights, will present a unique study on what brain data can tell us about the motivations of millennial females, demystifying some of the popular myths around what is believed to persuade beauty consumers.

Roundtable Discussions 3:45 PM: Led by Eva Redpath, Nike Master Trainer & Women’s Fitness Leader, and Moderators, who will drive conversation between the influencers and brands to better understand how to work together effectively.

Closing Keynote 6:00 PM: Rachel Cooper, YouTube Content Creator of RachhLoves, who has 790k followers on social media, will discuss how brands can work with YouTubers effectively.
