UGO Wallet Announces 50,000 User Milestone

Since its debut in late November, UGO Wallet has signed up 50,000 users, the company announced today.

Ugo-screenshotThe mobile payments and loyalty card app, available for iPhone since February 2015, as well as Android and Blackberry, for is on pace to accumulate 100,000 users and 250,000 cards by the end of 2015.

While users on Android are able to take advantage of NFC to make payments through contactless payment terminals, iPhone users are reliant on barcodes and scanners to make payments or receive points.

To take full advantage of the UGO Wallet, users need a TD Credit Card or PC Financial MasterCard, a compatible phone and a participating wireless carrier.

Suretap, a mobile wallet and payments app co-owned by Bell, Rogers, and Telus received a big update in June, bringing Suretap users access to CIBC’s credit card portfolio and added more retailers’ loyalty programs such as Forever 21 and Groupon.

Suretap now has 38 credit cards and 30 gift cards in its roster and comes preinstalled on Rogers phones. Rogers is among the carrier partners for Apple Pay, which will be available to Canadians this fall.
