PayPal Matching 1% Of Giving Tuesday Donations

November 17, 2014 Ben Myers

Now in its second year, Giving Tuesday is coming up on December 2, 2014. The charitable event is meant to kickstart the holiday season after the consumer-focused Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

PayPal was a supporter of Giving Tuesday in its first year, and is now returning with a pledge to match 1% of donations made using PayPal on Canadahelps.org.

We were inspired by how people, charities and companies rallied to join the first #GivingTuesdayCA movement in Canada last year. #GivingTuesdayCA donation data from CanadaHelps revealed that charitable donations increased by 169%, and the dollar value of donations increased by 91% as compared to the same Tuesday in the previous year. Clearly, Canadians generously supported the first #GivingTuesday movement in this country.

Last year, PayPal paid for everyone’s daily fix at Jimmy’s Coffee near their office in Toronto. The idea was to get everyone thinking about how they can be more charitable for the rest of the year.

In December, find a charity on Canadahelps.org and get giving!
